Free Will?

The question whether or not free will is a thing is an unanswerable question. Its one of those questions that we can only get the answer if we talk to God. Its hard to understand, because if we have free will then how could God possibly know all. On the the flip side, if God doesn’t “know all” then one of the foundational characteristics of God is gone and faith doesn’t exist. So I guess we can conclude that you can’t have an all knowing God and humans that have free will, right?
Proverbs 16:9 ESV
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
This verse is saying that he have free will but Christ prepares or sets up or choices. So does God just have a list of choices and thats the big plan that he has? Is his plan more or less an outline that can change and be moldable? This in a way gives us both. We are able to make our own choices, but at the same time God still knows(more or less He has an idea) what we are going to do. The only problem with this is that we are striping God of some of His power, by saying He doesn’t fully know what going on He just has a rough estimate.
Psychology says that all things have a cause and then there is a effect. If we believe this then that means any choice or decision we make is just an effect to a cause. There was no will or personal opinion behind the matter. Does this mean all of our actions are set in place and no matter what they will take place. What would stop them? I mean after there is no free will if everything is just on a cause and effect basis. So can we blame criminals, cheaters, or just anyone who does bad things? They have no say in whats going to happen. They are actually the victim of a bad cause and effect.
I believe that at the end of the day you have to choose which stance you are going to hold on this particular topic. If you are a Christian you will believe that Christ is all know, but he will empower us with an ability of free will. Know body will know its will be an ongoing mystery.
