Incomplete Bible Blog

Who did Christ die for? Well immediately I think of probably the most popular verse in the Bible, John 3:16. This verse alludes to the idea that Christ died so that we could have eternal life. Now I have grown up thinking and believing that Jesus died so that my sins could be forgiven. I still believe this to be true. I also think that this is the main reason Jesus died on the cross. Think about it this way. In the movie, Narnia, Edmund (one of the sons of Adam) sins and essentially betrays everyone. He acts out in rebellion. He later realizes that he wants out and gets rescued. But he must pay for his actions. He either stays with the witch or dies. Then we all know that Aslan sacrifices his life to save Edmund’s. It seems so obvious there why Aslan was sacrificing his life. He was laying down his life to pay for the punishment of Edmunds. That is exactly what Christ did for us. He laid down his life to pay for the sin that we have committed.
“When Adam sinned, sin entered the entire human race. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned” Romans 5: 12 This sums it up real nice. Since there is sin in the world, because of Adam, we all deserve death. Death is the only thing that can pay off the sin and make us clean again in God’s eyes. Romans 6:23 Says, “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord”.  Again, this stating that we as humans deserve death for  our sin, but Christ came and paid the penalty for us.
